Interesting Helpdesk lingo

It is amazing how many Loan officers, Insurance agents and appraisers drop their cell phones and Blackberries in "buckets of water"

I am certain that the only buckets of water most of these guys go near are white, bolted to a wall and have a little handle that goes FLUSH.

But I won't tell if you won't. ;-)

It is worth it.

I love home cooked flour tortillas.

I don't make them from scratch... I buy a mix or I can buy pre-formed uncooked ones at Costco, just throw them on the griddle for a few minutes, and you have a much improved burritos or fajitas.

Singing from a strange book.

Julia went with me to BSF for the first time today.

She thought it was kinda odd that they gave her a book to sing out of with notes and stuff in it.

I now have an accountability partner. She doesn't read well enough to do all of the lessons, so I will likely be reading to her.. This week's assignment is to skim the book of Matthew. I don't know how to skim aloud, so we will be reading a lot. Luckily I have been practicing a lot with her brother. He loves to listen. Julia hasn't been quite so enthusiastic, but perhaps having questions to listen for the answers to will help.

I am pretty excited about my group this year. I have tended to be placed in the young guy groups over the last several years, but this year there are quite a few guys who have been married a lot longer than me, have kids older than mine etc.

I am looking for a Rock climbing harness for my kids. They are very excited about climbing. I took them the other day, and they became addicted to climbing chimneys. I used to climb some before I got fat. I have most of the equipment I need to belay them, but I don't have a harness small enough for them. They get up to my head level, and want to keep going, but I have to make them stop.

I am sick of politics.

So I am not going to blog about it much... But I did add a political link to the front of my blog.

Politics isn't everything. I like candidates that get that.

Amazing mail.

I got an envelope in the mail today. On the front was written:

"TAP YOUR EQUITY TODAY
BEFORE HOME VALUES DECLINE!
"

Inside, there was an offer for a 40 year mortgage from Countrywide.

So they want me to be upside down on my mortgage, then pay so little principal that I will stay upside down for as long as possible.

Is it any wonder that they needed to be bailed out?

Galatians 5:26

And those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires.

The "who" in the above verse struck me the other day as I read it. So often we focus on what God does in us, that we neglect to do what we are called to do for ourselves - repent.

It is not easy to walk away from our temptations. Our flesh sometimes cries out with great pain and anguish when we deny it what it is hungering for. We have crucified the flesh, we need to let it die. We need to let it hunger and thirst, and gasp for air.

Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me

We are able to walk the uncomfortable and painful path because we trust God. The Jesus that we are following did not take the comfortable easy path. He asks us to take up our cross and follow him. When we follow him, he replaces our lustful and sinful passions named in Galatians 5:19-21 with the fruits of the Spirit named in verses 22-23.

It is not God's job to crucify our flesh. It is ours.
